Wayne Greene

Robert “Wayne” Greene, 70, of Mount Gilead passed away Saturday, August 14, 2021 at First Health Richmond.

A graveside service with Military Honors will be held at 11:00AM Saturday, August 21, 2021 at Little River United Methodist Church Cemetery.  Rev. Steven Cline and Rev. Rupert Medford will officiate.  Mr. Greene will in state from 6:00PM until 8:00PM Friday evening at Edwards Funeral Home in Mount Gilead. 

Wayne was born August 27, 1950 in Richmond County to the late Robert Joseph and Fannie Belle Mauldin Greene.  He proudly served his country in the US Army.  He was last employed by the North Carolina Dept. of Corrections.  Wayne was a member of Hamer Creek Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon.  

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Ann Byrd Greene and  daughter, Tammy Ann Greene.  

He is survived by sons, Johnny Wayne Greene(Gayle) of Ellerbe, Charles Greene(Donna) of Troy and Scott Daniel Greene of Mount Gilead; sisters, Janet Ondishko and Debbie Ann Greene both of Albemarle; seven grandchildren, Kerrie Ann Greene, Kyndall Greene, Kasey Greene, Kathryn Anne Greene, Justin Lee Greene, Mary Fish and Marissa Sweet; seven great-grandchildren, Oaklynn Bean, Conner Fish, Jase Fish, Hailey Hathcock, Riley Hathcock, Kaitlyn Hathcock and Caleb Hathcock.
