Walter Ed Gaddy Obituary

Walter Edward Gaddy 90 of Mt. Gilead died Saturday Morning, November 24, 2018 at his home.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, November 26, 2018 at First Baptist Church in Mt. Gilead. Dr. Roger Thomas and Rev. Terry Burris will officiate. Interment will follow in Sharon Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church fellowship hall.

Walter Ed was born September 5, 1928 in Montgomery County to the late Edward Thomas and Nannie Deaton Gaddy and was a lifelong Farmer.  He was a United States Army Veteran of the Korean War. He was a lifelong active member of Mt. Gilead First Baptist Church where he had served as Deacon, a member of VFW Post 6183 in Mt. Gilead and Blackmer Lodge # 127.

Anyone who knew Walter Ed, knew exactly what kind of man he was.  He was constantly joking and always had something “smart” to say.  There was nothing he couldn’t fix or do.  Farming was in his blood and he could always be found in the pasture checking his cows, bailing hay, or tinkering in his shop on a tractor.  There could only be one color of tractor on the farm and that was John Deere Green.  When he wasn’t on the farm, he loved hunting or traveling with his wife, Billie Rose.  Of all the places he went and things he did, the most important to him was his family.  He loved his family and made it possible to create many special memories.

He is survived by his wife Billie Rose Mauldin Gaddy of the home. Two daughters, Melanie Gaddy Fleming and husband Glenn and Sharon Gaddy Thompson and husband Dale all of Mt. Gilead. One daughter-in-law Tracy Gaddy of Albemarle. Five Grandchildren, Justin, Cory, Katie, Thomas and Derek. Five Great-Grandchildren, Trenton, Ella Rose, Ivy, Eli and Camden.

He was preceded in death by his son Allen Gaddy, his daughter Tammy Gaddy Whitley, his grandson Ben Thompson and his brother, Lynn Gaddy.

Memorials may be made to Community Home Care and Hospice, 348 N. Main Street, Troy, NC  27371.
