Ralph “Troy” Starr 67 of Norwood passed away Saturday Afternoon, January 16, 2021 at Atrium Cabarrus, after battling Covid 19, with Pat and Angela by his side.
A Celebration of Troy’s life will be held at a later in the spring or early summer at his Lakehouse.
Troy was born December 5, 1953 in Concord to the late Albert (Jerry) and Peggy Davis Starr. He was a 1972 graduate of Northwest Cabarrus High School. After graduation he entered the US Navy where he was an Aviation Electrician’s mate. After his discharge in 1976 he went to work in home construction. In 1977 he went to work for Westinghouse Electric which is now Siemens Energy. Troy went to night school and got a degree in Engineering and worked his way to the position of Facilities Maintenance Engineer. Troy was well thought of by his peers at Siemens and everyone he came in contact with. He strived to be the best at all he did. He will be missed by all who were blessed to have him in their life.
Troy is survived by his partner of 11 years, Pat Bates, his two brothers, Dana Starr (Susan) of Savannah, GA, Michael Starr (Linda) of Concord, and a special cousin, Donna Glass. Troy is also survived by Angela Alejo and Ana Charbonneau and his furry buddy, Luke.
Troy and Donna enjoyed cooking and canning together. The family’s favorite was red pepper jelly. Troy was looking forward to retiring and sitting on his pier at his lake house with his longtime friend Bruce Edwards. He was looking forward to building his outside kitchen and having cookouts and fish fries with all his friends on the lake. We are sad he was taken away so soon. He will be missed very much by everyone who knew him. Troy was such a kind, generous and loving man who never met a stanger. The world was a better place with Troy Starr in it. He left a void that can never be replaced. In loving memory of Troy, please make sure that you receive your Covid vaccine.
