Treva Sue Byrd Freeman 80 of Albemarle died Tuesday morning, March 2, 2021 at Atrium Stanly.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, March 5, 2021 at Hamer Creek Baptist Church, Rev. Chip McAulay will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Treva was born August 12, 1940 in Fries, Virginia to the late Emmett and Sallie Bilbrey Byrd. She was a care giver and a retiree of Monarch after more than 20 years of service. She was a member of Hamer Creek Baptist Church and attended Lake Tillery Church. She enjoyed sewing and crafting.
She was preceded in death by her husband Alex Freeman, a daughter, Susan Funderburk, a grandson, Joey Gross and a brother, Harold Byrd.
She is survived by her children, Shirley Fitzgerald, Christine Johnson (Hylton), Johnny Byrd, Kathy Fields, Jimmy Fields (Amy) and Penny Morris (Donnie). Step-children, Vanessia Hayworth, Dwight Freeman, Brent Freeman and Brad Freeman, 20+ Grandchildren and 25+ Great-Grandchildren. One sister Gay Byrd as well as several nieces and a nephew that she loved very much. Her niece Brownie Cranford (Charles) had become very special to her and Brownie's invitation to come live with her had set off a chain of events that made Treva's last days here some of her happiest. Also surviving is her faithful cocker spaniel Skipper.
