Sue Bost

Shirley Sue McLendon Bost, 83, of Norwood, passed away on Wednesday, December 17, 2025 at her home.

Funeral services will be held  at 3:00 PM on Sunday, December 21, 2025 at Aquadale Baptist Church. Rev. Jerry Morton will officiate and interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Sue was born on January 9, 1942 in Stanly County to the late Mary Swaringen McLendon. She attended Norwood High School and was a member at Aquadale Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and taught the GA’s. She owned and operated ‘Sue’s Upholstery’ and also taught Upholstery classes. Sue and her husband spent their years together enjoying gardening, making Molasses, fishing, flea marketing, and listening to bluegrass. They were both members of the Stanly County Power Club, and together, they helped make sure the church was cleaned and the lawn was mowed. Sue was the definition of a true caregiver and hard worker. 

In addition to her mother, she is preceded in death by her husband, John Lawrence Bost.

She is survived by her children: Judy Lucas (John) of Norwood and Marindy Harris (Mark) of Albemarle; three grandchildren: Laura Carpenter, Jennifer Lucas Mauldin (Wes), and Jeremy Lucas (McKenzie); four great-grandchildren: Bentley, Alexxus, Hayden, and Louella; and one sister: Allene McLester.
