Steven “Smiley” Grady Hatley, 74, of Albemarle passed away on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at his home, surrounded by his family.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Centerview Baptist Church. Rev. Adam Hatley and Rev. Michael Almond will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Steven was born on August 28, 1950 to the late Grady and Ruby Kelly Hatley. He was a member of Centerview Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He retired from Alcoa after 30 years, and later retired from SCUSA. He also served his country in the Army Reserves. Steven loved baseball, as well as the outdoors. He was passionate about hunting and fishing. He enjoyed attending auctions at Curt’s Auction Hall in Albemarle every Saturday with his friends.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother Henry Gardner, and his sister Peggy Maurino.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Linda Almond Hatley, of the home, daughter Stephanie Dawn Cobb, son Chad Bryan Hatley, four grandchildren Joey Cobb, Josh Cobb, Savannah Hatley, and Ethan Hatley, one great grandchild on the way, Kyson Hatley, sister Libby Miller, sister in law, Elizabeth Gardner, and his special buddy and fur baby Toby.
