Sarah Jarman Macrae, 88, joined her family in Heaven on Tuesday morning September 22, 2020. There will be a service of worship celebrating her life at Bethel United Methodist Church at 3:00 PM Sunday September 27th, 2020 with Reverend Steve Eddins officiating -interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends prior to the service beginning at 2:00 PM.
Sarah was born October 16, 1931 in Anson County, to the late Martin Arthur Jarman & Mamie Verona Edwards Jarman. In a honored family tradition Sarah was the namesake of her maternal Grandmother Sarah Lilly Burns, the wife of Walter Farr Burns.
She was a graduate of Morven High School and attended Flora Macdonald College in Red Springs, NC. Following the loss of her mother in 1954 she joined her cousins Ruth & Jake Edwards to reside in Charlotte, NC. beginning a career of years with Union Carbide Corporation and later Mecklenburg County Health Department until retirement.
Sarah met Frank Withrow Macrae, Jr and they married November 23, 1966. They resided in Dilworth and later purchased a home in Plaza Midwood, enjoying their life together with visits from Frank's son Chip and daughter Lynn.
Sarah continued the love and compassion for family shared by her mother, Aunt Blanch Porter and Aunt Berta Curran with her nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her brothers,
Hamer, Ray, Sr. Duncan, Arthur, Ben, Edward, and Harold Jarman; and sisters, Ann Behrent, Goldie Lockey, and Margaret Short.
She is preceded in death by nieces and nephews Bennie and Charles Jerman, Carey Jerman, Jean Tyson, Iba J. Lee, Mrs. Wade Howard.
She is survived by nieces and nephews Jimmy, Ray Jr., Ralph Jerman, Ronnie and Martin Jarman, Neal and Alan Short, Jean and Barbara Jarman, Melody Harris.
Also surviving are dear, caring friends Peggy Turner Beachum of Ansonville, Margie S. Gray of Concord, Bobbie R. Stillwell of Charlotte.
The family deeply appreciates the compassionate care provided by Meadowview Terrace of Wadesboro to our Beloved Aunt Sarah.
