Ruth Rufty Obituary
Ruth Steele Rufty, 96, of Kannapolis, passed away Saturday, January 1, 2022 at Big Elm Nursing Home in Kannapolis.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
Ms. Rufty was born on September 10, 1925 to the late Robert and Pearl Payne Steele. She was a weaver at Cannon Mills and a member of Skyland Baptist Church. She will always be remembered for her kind heart and her saying ‘You’ve got to love everybody.’
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Waitsell Paul Rufty; her children, Carol Allen and Paul Rufty ‘Junior’; brothers and sisters: Blanche Dorton, Willie Mae Kiser, Hazel Raper, M.C. Steele, and Dorothy ‘Dot’ Brock.
She is survived by her grandchildren: Susanne Rufty, Keith Allen, Stephen Rufty, Shane Allen, and Debbie Allen, all of Kannapolis; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
