Roy Roberts

Roy Jacob Roberts Sr. 96 of Mount Gilead died Monday Evening, February 9, 2026 at FirstHealth Hospice.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, February 14, 2026 at 3:00 PM at Bethel Baptist Church. Rev. Tony Hancox, and Rev. Glenn Hancock will officiate.The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM. Burial will follow at Melton’s Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery. 

Roy was born August 23, 1929 in Montgomery County to the late Clarence and Sally Dennis Roberts.

He was a United States Air Force Veteran of the Korean War and a member of Melton’s Grove United Methodist Church and a retiree of Gilead Manufacturing.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years Katherine Shaver Roberts on May 2, 2024.

He is survived by his sons Roy Roberts, Jr. (Delores), Kenneth Roberts (Cheryl), Roger Roberts and Allen Roberts (Randi). Daughter Kathy Mabry (Johnny). Nine grandchildren, Marsha Mabry (John Glass), Megan Mabry, Kenny Roberts Jr. (Paige), Dusty Roberts (Alexandria), Jessie Smith (Wesley), Jonathan Roberts, Jordan Roberts (Emily), Zachary Moore (Abigail), and Alexis Roberts. Six great-grandchildren, Harper, Ada, Lilly, Holden, Hallie Mae, and Isla.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Melton’s Grove United Methodist Church. Kathy Mabry, 850 McKay Hill Road, Mt. Gilead, NC  27306.
