Rosa Lee Carpenter Powell 84 of Polkton our beautiful and beloved mother died Sunday Evening at her home surrounded by her family.
Funeral Services will be held at 6:00 PM Thursday, May 15, 2025 at Mt. Vernon Methodist Church. Rev. Shelly Dial and Rev.Yvonne Hechler will officiate and interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church fellowship hall.
Rosa Lee was born May 18, 1940 in Anson County to the late Robert and Callie Mae Phillips Carpenter. She was a 1958 graduate of Polkton High School and a dedicated and lifelong member of Mt. Vernon Methodist Church where she had served as Sunday School teacher and Superintendent, choir member and youth leader. She was a retiree of Anson County Schools and a longtime hairdresser.
Rosa Lee’s memory will live on through all who knew her as a lifelong comedian, entertainer and story teller who enjoyed making others smile and enjoyed life to the fullest..She was an advocate for senior citizens and local youth and served them with kindness and grace.
She was preceded in death by her husband John Frank “Buck” Powell on October 2, 2019, a grandson Stoney and her brothers Bobby Joe Carpenter and Walter Fred Carpenter.
She is survived by her two sons, John F. “Jeff” Powell III (Wendy) of Polkton and Phillip Todd Powell (Ann) of Ansonville . one daughter, Stacey Lee Powell of Polkton, daughter-in-law Vicky Powell. Nine grandchildren, Michelle Thomas (Richie), Ashley Smith (Nick), J.R. Powell (Christina), Cali Powell, Holden Powell Kaitlynn Powell, Tucker Pearson, River Peason and Carley Powell. Six great-grandchildren.
