Obituary
Roger Darrell Hinson, 75, of Norwood, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Monday, August 21, 2023 at his home.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM on Thursday August 24, 2023 at Edwards Funeral Home in Norwood. Military honors will follow in the funeral home chapel.
Mr. Hinson was born on July 3, 1948 in Stanly County to the late Billy Alexander and Flonnie ‘Pete’ Lee Hinson. He was a United States Army veteran and worked as a carpenter most of his life. Roger enjoyed fishing and woodworking. He loved his family and cherished the times spent with them
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his granddaughter, Cortney Furr; and brothers: Larry Hinson and Joe Hinson.
He is survived by his loving wife, Cathy Grissom Hinson of the home; daughters: Sheila Furr (Johnny Dial) of Polkton and Sandy Hatley (Joe) of Mt. Pleasant; three grandchildren: Cody Hatley (Brittany), Brandon Furr (Kaitlin), and Josh Hatley; two great-grandsons: Braylen and Lane Furr; one sister: Mitzi Hartsell (Tommy); and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The family would like to thank the staff and nurses of Hospice of Stanly and the Uwharries for their love and compassion.
