In Loving Memory of Rhonda Pauline Rhodes May 2, 1963 - December 27, 2023 It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Rhonda Pauline Rhodes, a beloved daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Rhonda departed from this world on December 27, 2023, in Charlotte, North Carolina, at the age of 60. Born on May 2, 1963, Rhonda brought joy and light to the lives of those fortunate enough to know her. Her warm spirit and infectious laughter created an atmosphere of love and camaraderie wherever she went. Rhonda was the loving sister of Shawn Lee Rhodes Hux, who preceded her in death on June 4, 2022. Their bond was unbreakable, and together they created a wealth of cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of family and friends. Rhonda's life was marked by compassion, generosity, and an unwavering love for her family. She is survived by her parents, June and Dan Batzel of Florida, and her father, Jimmy Rhodes of Jacksonville. Rhonda leaves behind a legacy of love through her daughter Ashly Rhodes (Chris) and Taylor Rhodes (Komol) as well as her granddaughter Laila and grandson Caleb. Rhonda's memory will also be carried on by her siblings: Lee Rhodes (Robyn), Channon Rickard-Ryan (Chris), and Tony Rhodes (Thuy). In addition to the loss of her beloved sister Shawn, Rhonda's departure is felt deeply by her extended family, including aunts, uncles, and cousins who were an integral part of her life. Rhonda was preceded in death by her grandparents, Rexford and Halcie Haynes of Waynesboro, VA; grandparents, Johnie and Dolly Rhodes (Maudell) of Jacksonville; grandfather, Arthur Batzel of Pennsylvania; cousin, Johnny Pruitt of Jacksonville; cousin, Kevin Cromer of Pennsylvania; Ray Rhodes of NC, Lucy Morton of NC; uncle, Leon Rhodes (Pumpkin) of NC, Mary Cook of NC; uncle, Billy Haynes of VA; cousin, Carol Faye Haynes of VA. Also preceding her were her sister Shawn Lee Hux of Jacksonville NC, her grandmother Dorothy Batzel of aliquippa, PA, her uncle Harold Cullen of Waynesboro, Virginia, and her grandson Justin Rexford Monroe Butson of Jacksonville NC. The family will be holding a memorial service to celebrate Rhonda's life January 14, 2024 at Jones Funeral Home in Jacksonville NC @ 11 am. Rhonda's departure leaves a void that cannot be filled, but her memory will live on through the stories, laughter, and love she shared with us all. May she rest in eternal peace.
