Rex Allen

Rex Allen, 72, of Norwood passed away on Friday, June 5, 2026 at his home surrounded by his loved ones.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Rex was born on December 20, 1953 to the late Walter Bennett and Lillian Blalock Allen. He was a graduate of South Stanly High School in 1972. Rex went on to retire as a correctional officer.

Rex loved to hunt and spend time outdoors, particularly with a dog. Rex raised high quality hunting dogs and greatly enjoyed that. Rex also held the home run record for the Babe Ruth Baseball League in Norwood. 

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Kathy Allen, and his brother Benny Allen.

He is survived by his daughters: Lynsie Allen (Rebecca) and Shannon Baucom (Rick), four grandchildren: Shayna Arrowood (Andrew), Khalil Sifford, Malachi Sifford, and Lachelle Sifford, four great-grandchildren: Maverick Arrowood, Azaylia Sifford, Xion Sifford, and Salem Sifford, and his sister Faye Blalock.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to Rick Burris for his kindness, compassion, and empathy during this difficult time.
