Randi Thompson Obituary

On May 21, God decided it was time to take the most precious person, Randi Wagner
Thompson, home to share the wonders of eternity with Him. She passed peacefully
holding her husband's hand after fighting the effects of Alzheimer's Disease for so long,
leaving behind a lifetime of cherished memories that will forever live in our hearts.

Born on May 26, 1953 in Charleston S.C. to the late Robert and Annie Wagner, she always
kept Charleston in her heart as is shown in many pictures and other items from her beloved
homeplace. Randi lived a life that was filled with kindness, dedication to family and so
much love in her heart for others, especially her family. She touched so many lives with
her compassion, her famous hugs and especially with the vast amount of love that she had
and freely expressed.

Randi will fondly be remembered as the smiling receptionist at Albemarle Middle School,
the most competent teacher assistant at Running Creek school, but she truly made her mark
at Oakboro School where she served as the most wonderful, dedicated teacher assistant and
the very beloved cheerleader coach. Her infectious smile was visible wherever she was and
with whomever she met. Her husband designated her the “official hugger” at Providence
Church of God where she was a valued member and sang in the Praise Band until her
disease starting taking its toll. There was rarely a time, if ever, that she would not have the
most beautiful smile on her face. She was the most fantastic, beautiful and loving wife that
a man could have. She loved her children beyond belief and the love that she had for her
grandchildren had no bounds. Anyone that ever had any interaction with her would have
definitely been blessed.

Randi will be so missed by her husband of 32 years, her children and grandchildren, all her
family and friends but we will take solace in the memories shared and the love that will
endure well past our presence on this earth. She was such a bright star that God allowed to
be shared with others for such a brief time.

She is survived by her loving husband, John Thompson of Albemarle; one sister, Whitney
Harken of Utah; two daughters, Happy(James) Little of Locust and Tuesday(Josh) Mize
of Waxhaw; three step-sons, John(Emily) Thompson, Jr. of Supply, NC,
Chris(Kim)Thompson of Norwood, and Dustin(Jamie) Thompson of Albemarle; eleven
grandchildren, Trey Little, Jaden Little, Harper Mize, Quinn Mize, Stella Thompson,
Ryder Thompson, Cadence Thompson, Cameron Thompson, Raine Thompson, Elijah
Thompson, and Lily Thompson; plus many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Annie Wagner; four sisters Maryann
Wagner, Margaret (Booie) Garvin, Ruth (Nippy) Browning, and
Sandra (Sandi) Pratt; and one brother, Robert Wagner, Jr.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 25, 2024 at
Providence Church of God, 12474 NC Hwy. 24/27, Locust, NC 28097. The funeral service
will follow at 2:00 p.m., officiated by Pastor Jerry Ingle.

In lieu of flowers, memorials/donations can be made to Tillery Compassionate Care in
Albemarle or to Providence Church of God in Locust.

The family would like to thank Tillery Compassionate Care for the wonderful service
provided to Randi. We would especially like to pay homage to Deanna Deere and Crystal
Thomas for the wonderful care they provided: and we are so very much appreciative of the
love that has been shown to us by them throughout this ordeal. Deanna and Crystal should
have a special place in heaven for the loving spirit that they have shown to Randi while
taking care of her.

As we tearfully say goodbye to our Sweet Randi, as so many people that reached out
referred to her as, we do realize that she will be forever be spending eternity with our
Savior and the rest of our homecomings will be so much sweeter because we'll see that
beautiful smiling face again. May her love live on in each one of us.
