Phyllis Whitley Shue 70 of Norwood passed away peacefully Friday Evening, February 28, 2020 surrounded by her loving family at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00PM Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Mike Lisk will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Phyllis was born June 1, 1949 in Stanly County to the late Jay Clegg Whitley Sr. and Lena Greene Whitley. She was a 1967 graduate of South Stanly High School and a member of Aquadale Baptist Church. She was a retiree of Stanly Knitting Mill and was co-owner of The Stained Glass Shoppe in Norwood. She was an active member of the VFW Post 6183 Ladies Auxiliary and enjoyed spending time with her former classmates and friends in the ROTIC “Rebel Old Timers In Crowd”.

Phyllis was an avid Softball Player and Bowler. She played for over 15 years with the Rowan County Senior Softball League and Girl Power Bowling League in Mathews.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her son Johnny Wayne Tucker Jr. and her brother Jay Clegg Whitley Jr.

Phyllis was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend who will be greatly missed by all who loved her.

She is survived by her husband William G. Shue of the home. Two daughters, Kacy Tucker Lisk (Chad) and Carla Shue Shepherd (Allen Sinclair), one son Jamie Shue all of Albemarle. One sister Sibyl Whitley Byrd (Chuck) of Oakboro. Her mother-in-law, Montize Whitley of Norwood. Eight grandchildren, Jay Shepherd (Gabby), Sam Shepherd, Tempestt Shepherd, Julianna Shue, Gavin Shue, Paityn Lisk, Logan Wayne Lisk and Piper Lisk. One great-grandson, Carter Shepherd. Nephews and niece, Barrett Austin, Devin Marie Hall and Caleb Jake Byrd. Also surviving are her special friends Buddy and Susan Lee.
