Phyllis Squires Dabbs, 81, of Norwood, passed away on Tuesday February 4, 2020 at Atrium Health North East.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00AM on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Nathan Fox will officiate and interment will follow at Garden of Memories in Kelly, NC. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00PM at Edwards Funeral Home.
Ms. Dabbs was born on May 8, 1938 in Mecklenburg County to the late Ralph and June Mullis Roper. She worked as a clerk administrator for The Employment Security office and then continued her career working for The Samaritan Colony. She was a former member of Memorial Baptist Church in Norwood.
Phyllis enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She loved to play bridge, shag, and play golf.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husbands, Douglas Ray Squires and John Riley Dabbs.
She is survived by her children: Ray Squires and wife Karen of Collierville, TN and Blair Smith and husband Tim of Concord, NC; step-children: John Dabbs and wife Debbie and Leesa Dabbs, all of Eden, NC; six grandchildren: Lindsey Flake and husband Jon Erik, Ashley Smith and husband Sam, Maggie Squires and husband Erik Dupuis, Doug Squires, Tyler Dabbs, and Will Dabbs; five great-grandchilren: Jaymen, Reece, Chance, Hallie, and Landon; sister Frances Lamb and husband Allen; sister-in-law Avis Nelson; and brother-in-law, David Squires and wife Annette; and a special friend and caregiver, Ginger Govan.
