James Michael "Mike" Swaringen, 69, of Norwood, passed away Monday, March 8, 2021 at Duke University Hospital in Durham.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM Friday, March 12, 2021 at Union Grove Baptist Church. Rev. Jeremy Blake will officiate. Family and friends are welcome to pay their respects, Thursday afternoon, March 11,2021 from 2:00PM to 5:00PM at Edwards Funeral Home in Norwood.
Michael was born March 1, 1952 in Stanly County to the late James Clifford and Bertie Ann Carpenter Swaringen. He was a 1970 graduate of South Stanly High School. He was a retiree of Uwharrie Knits and a member of Union Grove Baptist Church.
Michael coached many young ladies in Dixie Youth Softball and travel ball. He loved fishing with his family and friends, especially Chucky Chapman and Tom Dotson. Not only did he enjoy catching the fish, he loved to cook and have fish fries. Michael was all about being outside and enjoyed the fellowship of his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Ginger Edwards Swaringen of the home; daughters, Crystal Swaringen of Albemarle, Tina Colson and Justin of Albemarle and Hayley Ennis and husband, Trey of Mount Gilead; son, Brandon Swaringen of Norwood; 8 grandchildren, Hannah, Olivia, Kayla, Kelsey, Keira, Lacey, Matilda and Judah; one great-grandson, Nile; sisters, Malinda Barrett and husband, Carroll and Kitty Swaringen both of Norwood.
