Mildred “Micki” Killian Gardner 91 of Mt. Gilead passed away peacefully, Saturday, April 4, 2020 at Atrium Stanly Manor in Albemarle.
Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, April 8, 2020 at Stoney Fork Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Terry Burris will officiate. Mrs. Gardner will lie in state Tuesday Afternoon, April 7, 2020 from 2:00 until 5:00 and Wednesday from 10:00AM until 1:00 PM at Edwards Funeral Home of Mt. Gilead where friends are welcome to pay their respects.
Micki was born August 2, 1928 in Concord, North Carolina to the late Lloyd and Grace Williams Killian. She was a graduate of Mercy School of Nursing and worked primarily at the old Stanly Memorial Hospital and Troy Memorial Hospital for 52 years. She was a caregiver to her patients and family and her beloved animals all of her life. She transitioned into heaven the day after her beloved Bill’s heavenly birthday.
She was preceded in death by her husband William “Bill” Gardner and her son William Gardner, her sister Violet Youngblood and her brother Bernard Killian Sr.
She is survived by her daughter Sharon Gardner Tucker and husband Eddie. Two step-granddaughters and six step-great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to express their thanks to the staff of Stanly Manor for their many years of care. Also, special thanks to Joyce Swanner for her friendship as well as Dora and Frances.
