Meldonna Britt Obituary

Meldonna Griffin Britt, 80, of Stanfield, passed away peacefully Monday night, October 7, 2024, crossing over Jordan into God’s Promised Land, the Lord Jesus Christ.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday October 12, 2024 at 3:00pm, at The Britt’s church home, Euto Baptist in Marshville, NC.  The service will be officiated by Pastor Lee Davis and Pastor Robert Britt followed by burial in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Mrs. Britt was born July 22, 1944 in Mecklenburg County to the late Marley Gates and Eula Mae Purser Griffin.  She graduated from East Mecklenburg High School where she led the Future Business Leaders of America (among other things) which foreshadowed so much of what she would accomplish.  She was a real estate broker for AT& T/BellSouth and retired in 1996.  Spearheading the development of what would be BellSouth Plaza in Charlotte was one of her most celebrated accomplishments. After retirement, she opened her own business, Meldonna Britt Properties, and served her clients well.  Her real estate philosophy was to do everything as unto the Lord and He will bless the results.

Meldonna met the love of her life, JC, when they were both 15 and they married at 20, celebrating their 60th Anniversary on October 4th, 2024.  They enjoyed camping and simply being together.  They were truly best friends.  Meldonna was described by her children as being a lady that when she set out on a mission, she put her whole heart into it.  She also had a natural “knack” for finding herself in various leadership postions.  She loved helping people in need but  her greatest happiness  came from spending time with her family.  Her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were viewed by her as her greatest accomplishments. She loved God boldly and enjoyed fellowship with the body of Christ, especially her Sunday School class.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Annette Biggers.

She is survived by her devoted husband and selfless caregiver, Judson “J. C” Britt, Jr. ; daughters, Wendi Britt McCarn of Oakboro, Shelley Britt Belk (Gary) of Ramseur; son, Robert Britt (Wendy) of Stanfield;13  grandchildren, Evan McCarn (Sarah), Blake McCarn(Chelsea), Canyon Britt, Caleb Britt (Andrea), Naomi Britt, Jaxon Britt, Zayne Britt, Zachary Belk(Nicole), Janis Belk, Mae Belk, Marleigh Feehan(Brendan), Eddie Belk and Ana Belk; three great grandchildren, Adler McCarn, Juliet Britt and Clementine Belk; sisters, Marguerite Hough of Mint Hill and Ro Ena Sustar (Billy) of Mint Hill.

Memorials can be sent to:  West Stanly Christian Ministries, P. O. Box 27, Stanfield, NC 28163.
