A homegoing celebration will be held at 1:00PM, Monday, April 17, 2023 at Resurrection Community Church in Albemarle. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:00, prior to the service at the church.

Malaysia Jerminique Smith-Hammond, 27, of Albemarle passed away on April 9 th , 2023, at her home.
Malaysia Jerminique Smith-Hammond was born on May 17 th , 1995, in Stanly County to the late Latoya Smith and the late Demetrius Brown Aka Bunk. She graduated from Albemarle High School in 2013. She attended North Carolina A&T State University. She married Hunter Hammond on August 7 th , 2020.
Malaysia was saved at an early age at the Church of God of Prophecy where she also severed as a choir member. She served as the Lead Praise and Worship Leader at Resurrection Community Church. Malaysia loved the Lord so much. Her favorite person from the Bible was Woman with the issue of blood.
Malaysia was always full of LOVE and LIFE. She had a generous spirit and touched everyone she met. She had a great sense of humor and was always ready for an adventure. Malaysia never let life’s challenges hold her back, even while she served the Lord.
Malaysia is preceded in death by her Mother and Father and her Aunt Carrie Graddy, Frances Allen, Beulah Brooks and Uncle Oliver Smith.
Malaysia leaves behind by her Husband Hunter Hammond; sisters: Nigeria (Iddy) Smith, Makayla Long; Brother Tyler Rushing; Grandma Verious Hinson, Mother-in-Law: Tihesa Burns (Chadric); Aunts and Uncles: Monique Smith, William Hinson, Marlena Thomas, Mildred Brown, Shirley Morgan, Georgia Haywood, Hurley Smith, Walter Smith, John Henry Smith. God Children; Autumn Baxton, Amaiya Garris, Kylie White, Kaleb Almond, Da’Mariyon and Sy’Asia Watkins, Adriana Allen. She will be leaving behind a host Aunts, Uncles Cousins, Other Family and Friends.
