Dora Mae Byrd Harrison, 96 of Mount Gilead passed away early Friday morning, December 4, 2020 at First Health Hospice in West End.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00PM, Sunday, December 6, 2020 at Hamer Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Brantley Moore and Rev. Alex Willoughby will officiate.
Mrs. Harrison was born May 26, 1924 in Montgomery County to the late Nathan Jeter and Beulah Elizabeth Little Byrd. She was a homemaker and a member of Hamer Creek Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, and granny. She will be remembered for her sewing and her wonderful cooking, especially her fried chicken.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Ivey Harrison and son in law, Mack Hutchinson; brothers, L. P. Byrd, Lee, Byrd and Bill Byrd; sister, Lois Sneed.
She is survived by her daughters, Margaret Hutchinson, and Mary Lucas and husband, Mitchell all of Mount Gilead; grandchildren, Trudy Reagan of Wake Forest, Kristie Cotton (Jason) of Lake Gaston, Chris Lucas (Jill) of Mount Gilead and Danette Bennett (Bryan) of Huntsville, AL; eight great-grandchildren; brothers, Harris Byrd(Mary) of Mount Gilead, Tom Byrd(Reba) of Oakboro, Dockery Byrd of Mount Gilead; sisters, Frances Martin of Mount Gilead, Eunice Douthit of Thomasville and Joyce McNeil of Mount Gilead;
