Lewis Haley was born on November 26, 1946 in Crystal Springs Mississippi. He departed his earthly life on Wednesday August 2nd, 2023. At an early age Mr. Lewis parents moved to New Orleans LA, where he attended public schools and lived most of his life.
Funeral Services will be held at 12 noon, Thursday, August 10, 2023 at Victory Temple in Albemarle. The family will receive friends thirty minutes prior to the service. He will lie in state at Edwards Funeral Home in Norwood Wednesday, August 9, 2023 from 1:00 until 5:00 PM.
Mr. Haley was self-employed for many years. In his profession he restored cars and did bodywork. Amongst that he enjoyed racing cars, watching TV, and cooking at times. One of Mr. Haley’s favorite sayings was “I'm a Man.” He always said what he meant and meant what he said. He was an infectious person. Everyone he’d ever encountered loved him. He was a Man of Men.
He met the love of his life Peggy Haley in 2008. And to their union they were blessed until the time of his death.
He is preceded in death by is his parents OC and Odella Haley, two brothers Charles Rae and Willie Lee Haley, Two Sisters Angie and Francine Haley. A loving daughter Evelyn McDowell, one grandson Robert Green and one great grandson Gino McDowell.
He leaves to cherish in his memory his wife Peggy Haley of the home. Nine children: Lewis Jr.(Dion)Haley of New Orleans LA, Edmonia(Eric)Haley of New Orleans LA, O'rion(Brandon)Haley of New Orleans LA, Ruby(Robert)Haley of Atlanta GA, Kanika(Kavon)Thompson of New Orleans, Erica(Tyrone)Johnson or Concord CA, James(Breona)Watson of Charlotte NC, Dedra(Johnnie)Whaley of Charlotte NC, Jason(ShaMarla)Roberts of Alanta GA, Sisters Carlene Haley and Virginia Haley of New Orleans LA, Syliva Brazill of Flint MI, 31 grandchildren and 42 great grandchildren. And a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives, and dear friends.
