Leroy Carpenter Jr.

Leroy Carpenter Jr., 88, of Norwood, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at his home.

Funeral services will be held on 12:00PM on Saturday December 1, 2018 at Barringer Chapel Church in Norwood. Reverend Broce Sowell will officiate and burial will follow at Barringer Chapel Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:30AM to 12:00PM prior to the service.

Leroy was born on December 28, 1929 in Stanly County to the late Veta Burris and Leroy Carpenter Sr. He graduated High School and worked as a brick mason for most of his life.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife of over 69 years, Mrs. Callie Mae Taylor Carpenter.

In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by his sisters: Nannie Currie, Cora Mae Carpenter, and Ethel Richardson; brothers: Clarence and Benny Carpenter; and sister-in-law, Christine Carpenter.

He is survived by his loving children: Wayne Carpenter of Norwood, Veta Dalton and husband Thomas of Winston Salem, Robert Carpenter and wife Tammy of Winston –Salem, Karen Carpenter and Terry Watkins of Norwood, Sandra Colson and husband Orrin of Norwood, Theresa Carpenter of Winston Salem, Phyllis Carpenter and Robert Harrell of Albemarle, Crystal Carpenter of Norwood, and Kesha Carpenter and husband Kanautis of Norwood; brothers: Johnny Carpenter and Willie Manning and wife T.J.; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The family will be at the home of Mr. Carpenter.
