Pastor Leonard Wayne Maske 72 of Norwood died Sunday Evening, July 23, 2023 at his home. He was a godly man that prayed everyday for all that he knew. Leonard loved his family and his church, and he was dedicated to both. He was known to always have a home project going on.
Funeral Services will be held at 3:00PM Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at Amazing Grace Baptist Church. Rev. John Forrest, Rev. Mickey Howard and Rev. Bill Cutshaw will officiate and interment will follow in Norview Gardens.The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Pastor Maske was born February 12, 1951 in Mecklenburg County to the late Jack Edward and Marshaleen Hinson Maske. He was called to preach in 1971 and attended Piedmont Bible College. Leonard was the youth pastor at Friendship Baptist Church in Stanfield for seven years. He later founded and pastored Tabernacle Baptist Church in Oakboro. Leonard also founded Amazing Grace Baptist Church and resided there as pastor for 31 years..
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Trudy McLain Maske of the home.One daughter Lisa Maske Forrest (John) of Norwood. Two sons Gregory Lynn Maske (Amanda) of Illinois and John Mark Maske (Chera) of Albemarle. One sister, Carolyn Spellengberg (Art) of Concord. Nine grandchildren, Tyler (Taylor), Olivia (Bryan), Andrew (Katie), Nathan (Carrie), Bethany, Cody, Christen (Daylan), Lauren and Mason. Six great-grandchildren, Riley Jane, Josie, Easton, Arlinn, Brantley, and Kezia.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson Hunter Blake Mauldin, brother Dale Maske, and sister Kim Mullis.
