Harris Lamar Efird, 87, of Albemarle, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family, at Atrium Health in Concord, on Thursday, April 3, 2025.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, April 7, 2025 at Silver Springs Baptist Church. Rev. Mark Little will officiate and interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening, April 6, 2025 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Edwards Funeral Home in Norwood.
Mr. Efird was born on November 17, 1937 in Stanly County to the late Quince and Velma Kimrey Efird. Lamar was a lifetime member of Silver Springs Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and trustee for many years. He worked for the North Carolina Department of Transportation for 37 years. During his last 15 years of employment he was a Division Equipment Superintendent. Lamar loved being with people and engaging in conversation. He enjoyed restoring classic trucks and was always fixing things. Other favorite pastimes included fishing, camping, and eating steamed oysters with great friends.
In addition to his parents, Lamar is preceded in death by his brother, Darrell Efird.
He is survived by his loving wife, Virginia Dare Efird; two children: Jeffrey L. Efird (Michelle) of Duluth, GA and Meica Wyland of Greenville, SC; seven grandchildren: Jessica Efird (Sabino), Nicholas Efird (Emily), Isabella Wyland, Jack Wyland, Samuel Wyland, Katelyn Wyland, and Benjamin Wyland; brother: Harold Efird; sister and brother-in-law, Ann and Jerry Rawlinson; and three “bonus” sisters: Regina Breeden, Janice Rodilosso (Phil), Debra Bowers (Kenny).
The family would like to thank all the friends, loved ones, and community for their love, care, and compassion.
