Kent Roby

Kent E Roby, 71 of Norwood, NC formerly of Dakota City, NE passed on Wednesday May 22,2025 in Albemarle, NC.

Memorial services will be held: June 11,2025 at Edwards Funeral Home in Norwood, NC. Visitation at 1:00 PM and service at 2:00 PM. 

Kent was born on September 22,1953 in Sioux City, Iowa. He grew up in Dakota City and attended school in Dakota City and South Sioux City, where he met the love of his life Linda (Johnson) Roby. They married on September 4, 1970. Kent’s work involved moving around places in the US in the rendering business. It included some travel to Canada, which he loved. He worked for facilities like IBP and Cargill as a rendering specialist, and retiring from Valley Protein in NC. He loved his work, learning new things and feeling it was beneficial to others. As an outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing with his older Perry, his dad and friends, particularly, in his early days by the Missouri River. He also loved working on the farm with sister Jane and brother-in-law Rodney Bonderson. 

Survivors include: His wife Linda, son Kent, and daughter Angie Furr. Grandchildren: Shaun Sitzmann and Shayla (Sitzmann) Lowry, Hunter Dille, Brook Martin and Isabella North. Greatgrandchildren: Aurora Sitzmann and Noah North. His sisters Jane (Roby) Bonderson and Mary Beth (Roby) Hansford. He also had several nieces and nephews that he dearly loved. He was preceded in leaving by his mother Doris (Roby) Kade, his father Cyrus Roby, brother Perry and brother-in-law Rodney Bonderson.

His wife Linda and all his family are comforted that he is no longer suffering with illness, now at peace, safe and knowing Our Lord is protecting him.
