Kay Hatley

Brenda Kay Hudson Hatley, 76, passed away Monday, April 22, 2024 at her home.

A memorial service will be held at 12:00pm, Friday, April 26, 2024 at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Norwood.  Rev. Kaye Fry will officiate.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  

Kay was born January 13, 1948 in Stanly County to the late Atlas Monroe (Roy)  and Gennie Hopkins Hudson.  She was a member of Stony Hill United Methodist Church.  Kay was a well known pet sitter.  She loved all types of animals and was known to take home any animals that needed care.  Riding horses and spending time at the barn were her favorite pastimes.  Kay loved being outdoors and for the last couple years had worked at Morrow Mountain State Park serving in many capacities.   She was a great mother to her boys.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Ted Ray Hatley.

She is survived by her sons, Timmy Ray Hatley(Donna) of Sanford; Tron Monroe Hatley of Albemarle; grandchildren, Seren Mary Hatley and Gavyn Christopher Hatley; two step grandchildren, Alicia and Stephen; two step great-grandchildren, Noah and Grayson.  

Memorials may be made to any animal rescue in Kay’s memory.
