Katherine “Kathy” Fenters Haynes, 65, of Albemarle passed away on Friday, May 2, 2025 at Atrium Health Cabarrus.
A celebration of life will be held at Porter United Methodist Church on Thursday, May 8, 2025 at 2:00 PM. Rev. Jim Yow will officiate. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening at her daughter Jennifer’s home at 22537 Quail Ridge Rd. Albemarle, NC 28001 from 5:00 until 7:00 PM.
Kathy was born on February 6, 1960 to the late Henry Edward and Linda Cauble Fenters. She retired from Stanly County Schools as a teacher. Kathy was also a member of Porter United Methodist Church and a devoted board member of Tillery Christian Academy.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by grandparents James & Gladys Cauble and grandson Hudson Keely.
She is survived by her husband of 13 years David Reid Haynes; her children: Jennifer Keely (Ben), Jessica Sammons (Derick), James Archer; her stepson Michael Haynes; her four grandchildren: Dalton Keely, Jackson Sammons, Mason Keely, and Emerson Sammons; her brother Kevin Fenters (Paula); and her niece Courtney Fenters.
Kathy loved life and lived it to its fullest during her retirement years. During the week, she spent many hours at the YMCA doing aquafit classes and walking the treadmill, as well as at the Senior Center dance classes. She volunteered her time to her church as the treasurer, as well as spent many hours volunteering for TIllery Christian Academy as the Finance Chair. Kathy loved to travel, mostly by cruising. She also loved her family and friends, especially her role of being a grandma, and especially loved cooking for her family.
