Kathrene Collins

Kathrene Bobbitt Collins, 91, formerly of Aberdeen, and  Norwood, passed away Thursday morning, October 29, 2020 at Spring Arbor Assisted Living in Albemarle.  

A graveside service will be held at 2:00pm, Sunday, November 1, 2020 at Bethesda Cemetery in Aberdeen, NC.  Rev. Aaron Edwards and Rev. Bill Roberts will officiate.  Friends and family are welcome to pay their respects at Edwards Funeral Home in Norwood from 2:00pm until 4:00pm, Saturday, October 31, 2020.  

Mrs. Collins was born May 23, 1929 in Hoke County, NC to the late Adolphus Talmadge and Nellie Castevens Bobbitt.  She was last employed with Norwood Department Store as Fabric Department Manager.  She was a former member of Page Memorial United Methodist Church in Aberdeen and First United Methodist Church in Norwood.  

In addition to parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Earl Collins, May 25, 1994 and daughter, Nellie Thompson October 27, 2020; brothers, Walter, Talmadge and  David Bobbitt; sisters Margaret Tarlton and Sue Adams.  

She is survived by her son, Robert Earl “Bob” Collins and wife, Mary of Hudson, MA, daughter, Carolyn Collins Edwards and husband, Doug of Mount Pleasant and son-in-law, Harold Thompson of Norwood. Grandchildren, Joy Rienknecht and husband, Jim with daughters Casey and Emily of Howell, NJ; James Collins and wife, Marcia with son, Santiago of Arundel, ME; Aaron Edwards and wife, Amanda of Kannapolis; sister, Carol Wright and husband, Walter of Aberdeen.
