Joyce Miller

Joyce Evelyn Thompson Miller, 91, of Norwood, passed away peacefully early Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at Trinity Place in Albemarle.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM on Friday, October 25, 2024 at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Jeremy Hyde will officiate and interment will follow at Norwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. 

Joyce was born on July 2, 1933 in Stanly County to the late Grover Laster and Ann Robert Ingold Thompson. She retired from Trinity Place as a CNA and was the oldest member at Norwood First Presbyterian Church where she was active in the Glendale Thompson Sunday School Class. 

Joyce was a caregiver. She took part in helping raise and take care of all of her granddaughters and her eldest great-grandson, Lawson. She will be remembered for sharing her crocheted blankets to family and friends for special events in their lives. 

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Ben A Miller; daughter: Dorothy Diane Miller; and her siblings: Jay V. Thompson, Worth Thompson, Shirley Joe Thompson, Roy Thompson, Maxine Byrd, Dorothy Byrd, and Emma Hutchinson.

She is survived by her daughter Peggy Miller Cox; granddaughters: Sharon Newton, Sarah Tyson(Dale), Martha Newton, and Mary Grubbs (Tyler); great-grandsons: Lawson Tyson, Hayden Grubbs, and Bailey Grubbs; and brother: Larry Thompson.
