John Joseph Quinn, 71, of Norwood, passed away Friday, August 16, 2024 at Compass Health and Rehab in Spencer.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at Memorial Baptist Church. Rev. John Ferguson and Rev. McLean Faw will officiate.
Mr. Quinn was born on April 24, 1953 in Albany, NY to the late Justin Paul and Bea Cooper Quinn White. He was a retired insurance salesman and a former member of Joy Church in Matthews. John was a people person and loved his job selling insurance. He was admired by his customers for his compassion, care, and ability to listen to their needs. He won many awards and took trips with his companies to celebrate his achievements. In 2008, he was elected as Mayor of Indian Trail and served until 2012. John loved and served the Lord. He enjoyed singing Christian songs, and drawing others to God’s grace. He also enjoyed spending time outdoors and activities such as golfing, gardening, and dog training. He also loved all kinds of music, anywhere from rock to Christian. In recent years, he even learned to play the guitar.
In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by his stepfather, Fran White.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Dunn Quinn, of the home: two children: Cullen Quinn (Jeanne) and Kelli Quinn, all of Massachusetts; two step-children: Jason Wernly (Jessica) of Colorado, and Benjamin Wernly of Delaware; four grandchildren: Dillon, Riley, Caelan, and Levi; brothers and sisters: Justin Quinn (Cynthia), Diane Hollyer (Rick), and Paul Quinn (Dale); and several nieces and nephews.
