It is with deep sadness and much love that we announce the passing of Joseph Harold Copple, 79, of Oakboro, NC. Our beloved father passed this life peacefully on July 6, 2026 at his home surrounded by his family in Oakboro, NC.
Born to the late James Leslie and Vesta Mae Copple on May 20, 1947 in Torrington, WY. Joe proudly served the US Navy for 24 years, Ranger at Camp John J Barnhardt, and Correctional Officer at Albemarle Correctional.
He married the love of his life, Kay Lynn Copple in 1970. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, daughter, and wife, Kay, and great-grandchildren: Winona, Waylon, Nathaniel, and Ezra.
Joe is survived by his only son, James I. (Angel) of Oakboro; grandchildren: Joseph W. (Whitley) of Stanfield, James L. (Stephanie) of Oakboro, Heather (Michael) Coston of Boone, and Jonathan (Erika) of Oakboro; great-grandchildren: Paisley, Ruby, Phoenix, Jett, Zeke, and Roman.
Joe's celebration of life with Military Honors will be held at First Baptist Church in Oakboro on Sunday, July 19, 2026 at 3:00 PM in the fellowship building.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his honor to First Baptist Church Oakboro building fund and/or Tillery Compassionate Care: 960 N First Street, Albemarle, NC 28001.
