Jewel Sheppard

Jewel Hayes Isenhour Sheppard, 73, of Mount Gilead passed away Wednesday morning, February 3, 2021 at her home.

Mrs. Sheppard was born May 31, 1947 to the late Robert D. and Lou Gena Souther Hayes of North Wilkesboro, NC.  She was a 1965 graduate of Wilkes Central High School and earned a License in Cosmetology from Career Beauty College in Statesville. She enjoyed volunteering at Montgomery First Health in Troy and doing crafts in her spare time.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Margaret Dotson and brother Gerald Hayes.

She is survived by her husband, George Sheppard, Jr. of the home; son, Mark Isenhour and wife Virginia of Climax; two step children, Kelly M. Sheppard of Albemarle and George James Sheppard and wife Angela of Hendersonville; granddaughter Tara and one great-granddaughter, Marissa of Badin; and one step grandson, Jonathan Kinney; three  sisters,Joan Dotson of North Wilkesboro,  Sylvia Boles of Winston-Salem,and Jane Brooks and husband, Jerry of Cleveland; brothers, Edgar Hayes and wife, Mary of Flint, MI,  Harley Hayes and wife, Lea of Cleveland, NC,  Robert Hayes and wife, Patsy, David  Hayes and Douglas Hayes and wife, Vivian all of North Wilkesboro; and her sister-in-law Marie Hayes.
