Jean Darolene Helms

Jean Darolene Hartsell Helms, 68, of Stanfield passed away peacefully Tuesday afternoon, December 30, 2025 at Atrium Cabarrus surrounded by her family.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, January 4, 2026 at Oakboro Church of God. Pastor Torben Stroupe will officiate and interment will follow in Oakboro Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 Saturday Evening at Edwards Funeral Home of Norwood.

Darolene was born November 15, 1957 in Stanly County to the late Arnold and Nellie Whitley Hartsell. She was a graduate of West Stanly High School and was a retiree of Stanly Manor with 23 years of service. She was a faithful member of Providence Church of God and later Oakboro Church of God as long as her health allowed.

She will be remembered as the “ The greatest Wife, Mother, Mother-in-law, and Grandmother” a family could ask for. She was loved by everyone she met and worked with as she tried to do what was best for everyone. She loved and enjoyed spending time with her fur babies Smokey, Elmo and Oreo.

She is survived by her husband, Todd Helms, whom she was married to for 44 years of the home; sons, Matthew Helms (Tiffany) of Oakboro and Aaron Helms (Amanda) of Albemarle; three grandchildren, Joshua, Mackenzie and Molly Helms; sister, Janet Edwards of Stanfield.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Roger Page.
