Jane Almond

Jane Greene Almond, 85, of the Aquadale Community in Norwood, passed away Monday evening, May 9, 2022.

A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, May 19, 2022 at 3:00PM at Memorial Baptist Church in Norwood.  Rev. Jeff Whitecotton will officiate.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Jane was born March 17, 1937 in Stanly County to the late Henry Rufus Greene Sr. and Louise Thomas Greene.  She was a graduate of Aquadale High School.  She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Albemarle and for many years was a member of Aquadale Baptist Church, where she and her late husband were active in all areas of the church.  

Jane had a outgoing personality and never met a stranger.  She enjoyed sharing stories of her childhood and family. She was very active in the community.  Artistic and creative are words that  could describe Jane.  She enjoyed time in her  quilting barn where she made beautiful quilts, painted and cut stained glass and wove baskets.   

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Aubrey Porcher Almond; brothers, H. R. Greene, Jr., Gerald Greene and Joel Greene; sisters, Barbara Lomax and Brenda Mabry.

She is survived by her daughter, Athena Almond Foreman(Johnny) of Matthews; son, Darren Porcher Almond(Elizabeth) of Norwood; granddaughters, Amber Foreman Marbry(Adrian) and their children, Grayson and Cooper of Indian Trail; Lauren Almond Howell(John) and their children, Aubrey Jane and Jack of Rockwell; Rachel Almond Huneycutt(Matt) and their daughter, Hazel of Ludowici,GA; and grandson, Jacob Almond of Norwood.
