James Edgar Ingram, Sr. (Buck), 89 of Mount Gilead, passed away peacefully at Bethany Woods, on February 11, 2020.
Funeral services will be held Friday, February 14, 2020 at 2:00 PM, at First United Methodist Church in Mt. Gilead, with Rev. Duane Partin officiating, and Masonic Rites. Burial will be in Sharon Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall. Buck will lie in state at Edwards Funeral Home of Mt. Gilead from 9:00AM until 1:00PM Friday where friends are welcome to pay their respects.
Buck was born on October 9, 1930, in Montgomery County, to the late James Franklin and Hattie Mae Carter Ingram. He served his country in the Air Force and after returning home, he worked for the US Postal Service for over 40 years and retiring as Post Master. After retiring, he worked for Jordan Lumber for 20 years. He was a lifetime member of First United Methodist Church in Mount Gilead. He was active in his church, Blackmer Lodge #127, and the Mount Gilead Civitans. He received a 60 year pin from the lodge and a 50 year pin from the Civitans. Buck loved working with his hands, refinishing furniture, woodworking, or in “the garden”. He especially loved the yearly fishing trips to the outer banks with his fishing buddies.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his sister, Ann Kirk and brother, Johnny Ingram.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Betty of the home, sons, Jamey Ingram and wife Brooke of Meggett, SC and Charles Ingram and wife Jessica of Mount Gilead; one granddaughter, Gabby Ingram; and a host of nieces.
