James Edward Hedrick 76 of Albemarle went to his heavenly home Monday Morning, February 19, 2024 at Atrium Main in Charlotte.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00PM Saturday, February 24, 2024 in Edwards Funeral Home Chapel. Rev Ronnie Pugh and Rev. Chuck Hensley will officiate and interment will follow in Bethesda Cemetery. His family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 Friday evening at Edwards Funeral Home of Norwood.
James was born May 11, 1947 in Stanly County to the late William and Ila Mae Boswell Hedrick. He was a retired commercial truck driver with 49 years of service and later worked with Walmart as a greeter for 5 years and was a member of Homeland Baptist Church.
James received his pilot's license in 1982 and enjoyed flying airplanes and graduated high school in 1992 with honors. He enjoyed fishing, riding motorcycles and “peace and quiet”
He is survived by his wife Jean Rummage Hedrick whom he married July 4, 1964. Three sons, Mark Hedrick (Irma), Matt Hedrick (Debbie) and J.R. Hedrick (Tiffany) two daughters, Michele Hedrick and Denise Hedrick. 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, D. J. Greene. Four half brothers, Charlie and Harlan Hedrick and Paul and Clifford Coley. Two half sisters, Mary Hedrick Arey and Ruth Coley Griggs.
