James Kevin Byrd

James ‘Kevin’ Byrd, 41, of Albemarle, passed away Thursday, July 24, 2025.

Kevin was born October 20, 1984 to the late Katrina Renea Byrd Mathis. He was a member of The Church of Latter Day Saints of Albemarle. In his free time, he enjoyed doing tattoos and cutting hair. He loved all of his kids and sisters; and was always putting a smile on the faces of everyone around him. .

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his grandmother: Mary Johnson, grandfather: James Walter Byrd, and Uncle: Scott Byrd.

Kevin is survived by his children: Ayden Mauney, Kylie Burgess, and Jewel Goodman–as well as James Byrd Jr., Harper Burgess, and another daughter, who were adopted into loving families. He was also survived by two sisters: Ann-Marie Little (Kenneth Little Jr.) and Tara Lasher(Stephen); Stepfather: Noah Mathis(Jennifer), Aunt: Sarah Leatherman(Buddy); Cousins: Jennifer, Danny, and Crystal; and nieces and nephews: TyDaylen, Laynala, Remia, Gralen, Cruise and Danika.
