Harvey Jackson Tucker Sr., 96, of Oakboro, passed away Thursday, January 18, 2024.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at Mineral Springs Baptist Church. Rev. Kinney Wallace will officiate and interment will follow at Oakboro Cemetery.
Harvey was born in Stanly County, August 24, 1927 to the late Paul and Rose Burris Tucker. He was an Army Veteran and served in Japan. He was the owner and operator of Tucker TV and Repair in Wadesboro for over 52 years. After retirement, Harvey enjoyed beekeeping. He processed and sold his local honey and was a member of the Anson and Stanly County Beekeeper Association. He and his wife Josephine were also loyal members of the Civitan Club in Stanly County.
Harvey was always social and never met a stranger, even into his later life. When you asked him how he was doing, he often replied ‘ Fit as a fiddle and ready to play.’
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Josephine Little Tucker; son, Perry Tucker; brothers Henry Blane Tucker and JR Tucker and sister Mary Frances Bustle.
He is survived by his son, Harvey Jackson Tucker Jr. ‘Jackie’ of Oakboro; brother in law Gerald Little of Oakboro; sisters-in-law Annette L. Helms of New Bern, NC and Rita Little of Oakboro; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
