Kost Bosnakes passed away peacefully Sunday morning, October 3, 2024 at 87 years young.
Kost was known as Gus. He was born on December 19, 1936 in Erie, PA to the Greek immigrant parents, George and Bessie (Vasiliki) Vlahos. He is survived by his sister, Helen and is preceded in death by his sister Koula and his brothers Jim and Alex. In 1962 he married Mary L. Dunford (deceased). They had no children but Gus had many nieces, nephews and wife's grandchildren.
Gus served in the military. He was a radar maintenance man in the U.S. Navy from 1953 to 1957. Finding employment after he was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy was difficult. His brother Jim encouraged Gus to join the U S. Air Force which he did. In August 1959 he was assigned to the 19th Airborne Missile Maintenance Squad and was honorably discharged in 1963.
Gus was an avid fisherman and hunter. He also enjoyed playing pool and the camaraderie with his friends at the Locust Senior Center.
He will be missed by all that knew him.
The 40 day Greek memorial service will be scheduled at St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church, Fort Worth, TX.
