Glen Burleson

Glen Dale Burleson, 88, of Albemarle, died early Sunday morning, September 26, 2021 at Woodhaven Assisted Living in Albemarle.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM, Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at  Pine Grove United Methodist Church in Albemarle.  Rev. Ron Hartman and Rev. Scott Williams will officiate and burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Glen was born January 21, 1933 in Stanly County to the late Harvey and Mae Lomax Burleson.  

After graduating from high school, Glen enlisted in the USAF and served four years during the Korean War, having served two years in Japan.  He was discharged September 5, 1956.  He received his Bachelor of Arts from Pfeiffer University, his Master of Arts from Appalachian State University and his seven year degree from UNC-Chapel Hill.  He taught at Endy High School, was Principal at East Albemarle Elementary School and retired June 30, 1989 as  Principal from North Albemarle Elementary School.   Glen loved his students and teachers.  After retiring from the school system, Glen worked for Stanly Funeral Home and Edwards Funeral Home.

Glen enjoyed talking to anyone, going to movies and eating out.  He was a member of Pine Grove United Methodist Church, where he played the organ for many years. 

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Almond Burleson of the home; daughters, Tonita B. Watts (Bill) of Chesapeake, VA. and Teresa B. Creech of Rock Hill, SC; stepson, Brian W. Smith (Heather) of Durham, NC; grandson, Travis Head, Blacksburg, VA; granddaughters, Maggie Creech of Richmond, VA and Betsy Creech of Nashville, TN; step grandsons, Ben and Elliot Smith of Durham, NC.
