Geraldine Hinson Johnson, 81, of Norwood, passed away Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at her home.
The family will receive friends from 1:00pm to 2:00pm, Thursday, October 17, 2024 at Edwards Funeral Home in Norwood, followed by the funeral service at 2:00pm. Pastor Mike Lisk will officiate and burial will follow in Norview Gardens.
Geraldine was born May 27, 1943 in Stanly County to the late Jack Hinson and Mary Virginia Tyson. She was a member of Norwood Church of the Nazarene.
Geraldine was a major part of her daughter’s restaurants, Geraldine’s Kitchen, Min-O- Pon and Main Street Grill. If you knew Geraldine you knew that she loved with her whole heart and was considered the “backbone” of the family. She was loving and caring and had a wonderful sense of humor. She was indeed special to many people.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy R. Johnson; brothers, Johnny Grissom and Ronnie Grissom; sister Betty Funderburke; uncles, Charles Tyson, Joe Tyson, Glenn Tyson, Jim Boy Tyson, Max Randall and her special dog, CoCo.
She is survived by her daughters, Elaine Jenkins and Patricia Johnson both of Norwood; Grandson, Brandon Johnson(Makala) of Jacksonville, NC; great-granddaughters, Ella, Rylie and Paislee Johnson; sister, Jackie Hinson and brother in law, Walter Moore; great-aunts and uncles that she thought of as siblings, Smokey Tyson(Catherine), Nancy McMillan(Jimmy), Dot Fitton, Janie Randall, Katherine Tyson and Kat Tyson; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Her cat, Tom Tom.
