George Reynolds

George Henry Reynolds, 92, passed away peacefully, his wife by his side, on June 29, 2026.  Mr. Reynolds was born in Lincoln County, NC on July 11, 1933, to his parents, Chesley Lee and Bertha Jane Dellinger Reynolds.  He was the 16th child in his family.  He and his loving wife, Doris Brown Reynolds, of 71 years were the parents of two children, Tami Reynolds Jones (husband Chuck, deceased) and Steven Dale Reynolds (deceased).  They have three grandchildren and six great grandchildren whom they dearly love.

Mr. Reynolds attended Gardner Webb Jr. college in 1953-54 where he played football for the Golden Isle Bowl Championship.  After spending two years in the army, he enrolled in Clevenger Business School.  He then went to Lenoir Rhyne College where he earned a B.A. degree in business and social studies and a teaching degree.  His first teaching position was at Lexington Jr. High in 1959-60 where he coached football and basketball.  He then moved to Fred T. Foard in Catawba County where he taught and coached football, basketball and track for six years.  While at Foard he earned his master’s degree in school administration and his principal’s degree from Appalachian College.

His first principalship was at Rivers High School in Charleston, SC from 1966-68.  He left there and became principal at South Stanly High School in Norwood, NC for twenty-four years.  While at South Stanly he earned his 6th year educational specialist degree from Appalachian.  He retired from South Stanly in 1992.

He truly loved his family and is survived by his love-at-first-sight wife of 71 years, Doris Brown Reynolds, daughter Tami R. Jones, grandchildren Sydney Andrews of Durham, Hailey Jones and Charlie Jones of Greensboro and six great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents and 15 brothers and sisters.

He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Greensboro and a former member of First Lutheran Church in Albemarle for fifty years.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00PM Saturday, July 11, 2026 at First Lutheran Church, Albemarle. Pastor James Laurence will officiate and interment will follow in the church columbarium. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church parlor.
