Gary B. Blackmon, humbly bowed to God’s will and peacefully entered into eternal rest on May 20, 2024, at Atrium Health Stanly in Albemarle, NC. A son of the late Rev. W.B.F. Blackmon, Sr. & Christine Davis Blackmon was born November 8, 1947, in Albemarle, NC
Gary was a graduate of the historic Kingville High School. He later enlisted in the United States Army. After returning from military Gary worked mostly in textiles and later was employed by both Fiberon and Dollar General as a stocker.
He confessed his faith at an early age and joined Union Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church. Gary was a quite Spirited, easy-going person loved family and friends, but the love of his heart was his dog named; “Cuz”.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Willie B. Blackmon, Jr.; his sisters, Carolyn B. Rankin; Evelyn O. Williams; & Mary E. Townsend.
Left to cherish loving memories are one sister, Crystal R. Blackmon of Albemarle, NC: & one special niece Freida B. Owens of Albemarle, NC. and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, June 2, 2024, at 2:00pm, at Union Chapel AME Zion Church, 812 Martin Luther King Drive, Albemarle, NC 28001. The burial will take place Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at the National Cemetery, Salisbury, NC.
