God saw that one of his angels was getting tired. God gently called his name, and Daddy obediently closed his eyes and went home to glory. Mr. Fletcher Evins Watkins was born December 10,1938 in Stanly County NC he departed his life on March 19th, 2026, at 12:47 at Atrium Stanly Hospital Albemarle, North Carolina. Fletcher was the son to the late Charlie and Nancy Watkins.
Fletcher confessed Christ as his savior at an early age at First Baptist Missionary Church where he served the Lord his entire life, he was a faithful member, he served as Trustee and was on the gospel choir.
Fletcher received his education at Kingsville High School graduate of 1958. Fletcher worked faithfully two jobs for over 52 years with M&R retreading and Collins and Aikman. Fletcher was a God-fearing man and. loved his family. Fletcher was Fletcher he loved people and people loved him.
Fletcher was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Nancy Watkins his son, Douglas, his daughter Cynthia and his amazing wife Edna Grace (Peggy), four brothers Henry, Archie, Tarvis and Charlie Watkins, two sisters in laws and three brothers in laws.
Left to forever cherish his memories five daughters and one son, Diane Watkins, of Norwood NC, Teresa Baldwin (Larry) of Norwood, NC, Ronda Watkins Albemarle NC Nancy Haywood (Eto) of Norwood NC, Katrina ,one son Luther Marcell Watkins both of Norwood NC, nine grandchildren Antionette Baldwin (Andre) Courtney Nsubuga , Cynthia Baldwin, Juquan Watkins, Luther Watkins Devante Watkins, Darrius Colson Brittnay Watkins and Latonya Little, thirteen great grands Makayla, and Andre Dockery Jr, Alana Colson, James Jones, Mariah Watkins, Mattie Baldwin, Ja’Millliana, Ari’yana, Jawuan, Ice’lyn Khaza Watkins and 1 more, Two brothers Curtis Watkins (Margrete) Newark Delaware Sherman Watkins (Lillie Mae) of Norwood NC, sister in law Helen Crump Philadelphia PA. A very special niece Tammy Branch (Albert) of Albemarle, a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Good friends James Harris, Tauris Colson and Chester McClendon.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 26, 2026 at 2:00pm at Memorial Baptist Church in Norwood. Dr. Cecil Raysor will officiate. Mr. Watkins will lie in state, Wednesday afternoon, March 25, 2026 at from 2:00pm until 6:00pm, at Edwards Funeral Home in Norwood.
