Ida Faye Poplin Pope, 92, of Norwood passed away early Thursday morning, March 27, 2025 at Spring Arbor in Albemarle.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00PM, Sunday, March 30, 2025 at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Norwood. Rev. Mike Lisk and Rev. Mary Hatley will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6:00pm to 8:00 pm, Saturday night, March 29, 2025 at Edwards Funeral Home in Norwood. Entombment will be private at Stanly Gardens of Memory.
Faye was born January 25, 1933 in Stanly County to the late Willie Bryant and Pearl Virginia Mabry Poplin. She was a graduate of Aquadale High School and a member of Cedar Grove United Methodist Church.
Faye was owner and operator of Deluxe Grill in Norwood from 1965 to 2019, having worked until she was 85 years old. Faye loved her customers and strived to provide good service and food. She was a big supporter of South Stanly High School athletics and provided many Friday night meals for the football teams. Giving back to her community was very important to her and she supported many school events. Faye was big hearted! She loved her children and grandchildren and was very protective of them.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her youngest son, David Pope; siblings, Betty Jean Poplin, Marie Huneycutt and brothers, Bryce, Max, John, Ray and Rodney Poplin.
She is survived by her sons, Kenneth Pope, Jr. of Norwood and Lloyd Pope(Pat) of Norwood; grandchildren, Kyle Pope, Chase Pope(Amanda), Calyn Pope(Caitlin), Cody Pope, Mackenzie Pope, Devan Pope and Alyssa Pope; 9 great-grandchildren; sister, Diane Howell(Bob) of Durham.
