Evelyn Hudson Kearns, 89, of Candor, passed away Wednesday evening, October 9, 2024 at her home.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at Edwards Funeral Home in Mt. Gilead. A graveside service will immediately follow at Blackwood Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery.
Ms. Kearns was born on November 21, 1934 in Montgomery County to the late Henry Winston and Anna Ruth Simpson Hudson. She was the former owner, operator, and seamstress at Sherry’s Sportswear, serving the Mt. Gilead community for over 10 years. Evelyn will be remembered for her kind heart, generosity, and contagious laughter. She had a wonderful wit and sense of humor. She was an all around caring person who would always open her home and heart for all of her friends and family in need.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Earl Kearns; her son: Mickey Kearns; and brothers and sisters: Travis Hudson, Clara Maie Hudson, JT Hudson, Gene Monroe, Helen Davis, Betty Faye Wallace, Fred Hudson, Doris Smith, Bobby Joe Hudson, and Anna Marie Hudson.
She is survived by her daughter, Sherry Coyle of Candor; four grandchildren: Kyanna Powell (Alston), Shannon Leake (Damien), Brittney Sheffield (Casey), and Devin Coyle; four great-grandchildren: Trystan Powell, Juliana Leake, Miles Sheffield, and Indie Sheffield; one brother: Edgar Hudson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
