Donnie Lilly

Donnie  Lilly was born February 15, 1956  and departed his earthly home October 1, 2021 at Hospice House of Union County in Monroe. 

A celebration of Donnie’s life will be held at 12:00PM, Monday October 4, 2021 at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Norwood.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his sister, Augusta Lilly (Carl) of the home; brothers, James Lilly (Anita) of Norwood, Grover Shankle ( Edwina) and Clinton Shankle of Albemarle; sisters, Truttie and Libby Shankle of Norwood and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Lilly and his father, Clinton Shankle.

Donnie attended South Stanly High School where he played football and was a member of the “big red machine”.  He was a member of Bennettsville AME Zion church.  

Donnie was very humble and would assist anyone he could.  He was called a "handyman".

Donnie will be missed by many but never forgotten.
