Deborah Howard Hooks Thompson, 84, of Wadesboro died Monday night, November 22, 2021 at Hospice House of Union County.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM, Friday, November 26, 2021 Edwards Funeral Home in Norwood. Rev. Barry Gerald and Rev. Mark Perko will officiate and entombment will follow at Stanly Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mrs. Thompson was born September 13, 1937 in Anson County to the late Sam and Vivian Biles Howard. She was employed for 25 years with ACTS Transportation in Anson County. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Deborah loved to paint, listen to gospel music, and watch Jimmy Swagart and Steve Harvey. Her favorite pastime was sitting on the porch with Faye Gathings, ‘Memmie.’
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, William Harold Hooks and Worth Thompson; sisters, Grovene Dry, Elladene Castrovalerie, and Edith Culverhouse; brothers, Hayward and Baron Howard.
She is survived by her children, Donald Hooks(Diane) of Lilesville, Billy Hooks(Peggy), Joyce Deas, Steve Hooks(Amy) all of Wadesboro and Sheila Lindenberger(Bob) of Wingate; grandchildren, Donna Hooks, Kari Burris(Ryan), Bill Hooks(Heather), Kimberly Hooks Burr(Jesse), Brian Gathings, Kevin Gathings(Pam), James Hooks, Joshua Burr, and Tiffany Black(Isaiah); great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Wesley, Kaleb, Kaylee, Kobie, Kensley, Ethan, Emery, Luke, Chelsea, Emeline, Casey, Kayla, Ashley, Will, Tyler, Seth, Brooklyn, Jason, K. J. and Jayla.
