David Whitley

Hugh David Whitley, 71, of Albemarle, passed away Sunday evening, surrounded by family,  February 7, 2021 at Forrest Oakes in Albemarle.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00pm, Thursday, February 11, 2021 at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Norwood.  Rev. Raymond Rowan will officiate.  The family will receive friends from 3:00pm-4:00pm at Edwards Funeral Home.

Mr. Whitley was born January 31, 1950 in Stanly County to the late Hugh Daniel Whitley and Julia Greene Whitley.  He was a member of Grace Baptist Church and was formerly employed with Stanly Fixtures.

He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Lynn Furr Whitley of Albemarle; sons, Christopher David Whitley and wife, Chastidy of Albemarle; Jason E. Whitley and wife, Linda of Albemarle; four grandchildren, Taylor Morris and husband, Corey,  Austin Whitley, Morgan Whitley and Kendal Whitley; three great-grandchildren, Zane, Zander and Langston Morris; two sisters, Diane Burleson and Caz of Matthews;  Marsha Martin and husband, Sid of Mint Hill; brother in law, Eric Furr and wife, Cindy; multiple nieces and nephews.
